2002-10-02 - 6:40 a.m. almost gold is almost gone... This week is halfway through after today... Which means our layoffs are nearly here. This is a good thing. After yesterday's all hands meeting, 1 in 8 coworkers went out to purchase candy or junk food to share with their nearest and dearest colleagues, thanks to the reassuring news that we would, probably, have our layoffs sometime this month... with different groups having them on different days. This lingering uncertainty, which means one comes into work everyday wondering if this is the day they or their friends will get the ax, does wonders for productivity. hence my ladies luncheon today (a.k.a. the first meeting of my gourmand society.) a long lunch with Zuni's shoestring fries and a few bottles of wine will certainly fix me up for the day... Of course, I still need to finish up my NYC "to do/see" list...actually, I need to combine the many loose slips of paper plus my entry here into one email... where is all the time going? Bright spot of last week was scoring Strokes tickets for Halloween. I'm going w/a friend from work who's gone to see a few show with me in the last year. She's a good one to take 'cuz she likes to get in the middle of the crowd and work her way up to the front just like me. Should be a lovely time. She's thinking of being a devil, which leads me to believe I should strongly consider being an angel, perhaps like Sheryl Lee in Wild at Heart... any comments?
